My preferred novels

I will read any genre of novels, but I do have preferences.   I have noted that I prefer books that make a series and have reoccurring characters and worlds.  

I like thrillers, thanks to my grandfather introducing me to them back when I was a teenager.  I still remember my first.  'The Vivero Letter' by Desmond Bagley.

 

I wonder where that book is now?? (Since writing this have found it!) My current favourite thriller author is Lee Child and the Jack Reacher series.  Have started at the begining and am currently reading  'The Hard Way'.

I am a big science fiction reader too, both the classics like Jules Verne and HG Wells and more modern reads. Particularly like Philip K Dick.  Fantasy novels are another favourite, like the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, CS Lewis and all the Narnia books.  Have read them over and over when I was a kid!!

Going to include autobiographies and biographies, as I like reading the ones about debauched rock stars the best as I am a guitar player!! Read the occasional political and actor biography too. Sometimes these types of books are practially fiction as they obviously over exaggerate events!  I want this blog to reflect the reading I undertake for fun, as I spend much of my time as a consultant and university lecturer reading fact, news, journals and text books too!!
